Make Sure That Your Baby Changing Station is Set Up

December 11, 2011

There is no experience in life that can compare to that of having a child, and the moment you get to bring them home and introduce them to your life and world is one that you will never forget. With all of the excitement of having a new baby it is easy to get distracted or side tracked with the tremendous amount of preparation work that is needed to make sure that you are ready for your new bundle of joy. One of the important things to have ready, and is sometimes not thought about until after you realize that you need it, is to make sure that you have a baby changing station ready.

There are several items you will want to make sure that you have a supply of, and many of these items are things you will need for quite a while so it is never a bad idea to make sure that you have a healthy supply.

To begin with, you will want to make sure that you have a good selection of washcloths, cotton balls, and the most important item is baby wipes. There are people that claim that long after having children they still keep baby wipes available because they are so useful. These three items are essential and also very important to have within arm’s reach. There are plenty of times where you are going to run into being the only one with the baby and there is nothing worse than being right in the middle of a cleanup and realizing the wipes are not within reach.

Some people suggest having warm water nearby. This is a handy item to have when waking up in the middle of the night and it can warm the washcloths or wipes before you need to use them. You can fill a mug with warm water or baby oil and then leave it next to the changing table. It will save you from when you may run into a situation when you need to leave the baby changing table, or call someone to help.

Above any other item, make sure that you have plenty of diapers. You will also want a good supply of masking tape. This is a good cheap solution to repairing those diapers that have their tags break when putting them on. Instead of just throwing them away you can repair them with masking tape.

Some other important baby supplies to add to your baby changing station are diaper pins, diaper cream, and baby powder. It is also a great idea, for sanities sake, to have a good pair of fresh clothes just in case something unforeseen should happen to the pair that your baby is wearing.
